Before we recap the last stone that was cast for our 2021 financial forecast, I offer this summary of the previous 9 stones. For a more in-depth explanation of them, visit the previous blogs linked above.
First, a summary of stones 1-3…
Anger ~ The Divine ~ Gratitude
The life you have been living is at an end. However, this is not a Rune of ending., it is instead a Rune of new beginnings. There may be darkness of a tunnel leading to the new life, but the light will be brighter at the end. Prepare for the opportunity disguised as a loss.
MOVE FORWARD
And a summary of stones 4-6…
Prayer ~ Trust ~ Courage
You are being guided to reach out and ask for help, for guidance, for assistance to support you in determining what parts of your system are not working. The second stone, the trust stone, cautions you about putting everything in someone else’s hands, it is important that you stay involved in the process. And finally, to go deep and determine what drives you. What fears do you have about money? What motivates you? What are your desires? What have you been taught about money? All of this will offer great insight into what steps you need to take to improve your financial situation.
LEARN, TAKE OWNERSHIP & ASK FOR HELP
And finally, a summary of stones 7-9…
Shame ~ Faith ~ Denial
What you uncover will be uncomfortable for you. And that’s ok. The greatest shifts happen that way. The Faith and Denial stones remind you that this exercise, this awareness, this movement is necessary to get things going in the direction they need to go in. And that it is ok to feel powerless in the process. It is the surrender to control that propels you forward.
MOVE PAST THE DISCOMFORT, SURRENDER TO WHAT IS NEXT
Finally, we arrive at the 10th stone ~ Serenity
Wunjo (Serenity)
The shifts that were due are completed, the branch now bears fruit, and you can now reap the harvest. Knowledge transforms itself into understanding. Through new clarity existing ambitions, goals, or plans may be seen for the limited undesirables they are.
WOW! The completion. The shift moves you exactly where you need to go! You just need to trust, allow and be brave to step into it!
Unsure how to do that? Let’s unpack this and focus on each message with some practical tips on how you can make this happen for you this year.
Let’s look at the first statement:
The shifts that were due are completed, the branch now bears fruit, and you can now reap the harvest
“The shifts that were due are completed”
This is, by no means, a quick, simple solution. Shifts take time. And effort. And consistency. And determination. And commitment.
What type of shifts might we be talking about?
- Your relationship with money. What were you taught? What do you believe? What do you say to yourself.
- Many years ago I participated in a money workshop – abundance mindset, or something like that. The first exercise we had to do was write out the statements that we hear and believe.
- Such as: Money is the root of all evil, Money doesn’t grow on trees, you have to work hard for your money. Do any of these sound true for you?
- If you believe these, how, in heavens name, do you expect to have a good relationship with money.
- The second thing we had to do, was write out what we want to believe, or truly believe.
- Money equals happiness
- I love money and money loves me
- Money is all around me and easily flows to me
- I forget how many times I had to write those statements but it was a lot!
- And it accomplished one major thing.
- It put in front of me, with no speculation, what I was taught about money and how I wanted that to change.
- Many years ago I participated in a money workshop – abundance mindset, or something like that. The first exercise we had to do was write out the statements that we hear and believe.
That is your starting point. What do you believe about money? What do you want to believe? Start that shift. Only then will the “branch bear fruit” and the can you “reap the harvest”
The Branch Now Bears Fruit
This is when you start to see the evidence that what you are putting out there in terms of your thoughts and beliefs, is attracting back what you desire.
Now, for clarity, this works all the time. Not just from a positive point of view. If you are constantly saying / thinking to yourself, “Rich people are mean and rude and undeserving” (for example), you will likely never attract true wealth because you subconsciously believe that if you do, you will be mean, rude and undeserving.
If, on the other hand, you say/think such things as “Money opens the door to helping others” you will notice that when you have an abundant flow of income, you reach out to help others.
So my question to you, is what are you seeing? That should give you some insight into what you believe.
- Are the bills piling up, or being paid down?
- Are you being paid what you are worth at your job or do you feel like your pay is an insult?
- Are you struggling to put food on the table, or do you look at your full fridge and express gratitude at all that you have?
- And so on.
Your exercise for this question, is to simply notice what comes up and then notice what you believe about money and how they connect.
You can now reap the harvest.
You will know that you are making strides with this when you view more things as positive and less tings as negative when it comes to money and finances. That will be your evidence. That will be ‘reaping the harvest”
Knowledge transforms itself into understanding.
“Information is power”
“You can’t change what you do not see”
This reminds us that we need to have the information to make the right decisions. This is one of the greatest challenges when it comes to personal or business money management for most people. It’s not everyone’s area of expertise. So…let me simplify it for you as best I can.
You need to answer one question: Am I spending more than I make?
If the answer is yes, you need to change that.
If the answer is no, you need to decide where the extra money is going.
How will you know the answer?
- you can track your income and expenses manually and add it all up and look at the ends result. For some that seems very overwhelming. But it is very effective.
- You could automate it. Use your bank’s program if they have one, or an app or other program to export lt of your transaction to and look at the report each month
- You could use my lazy approach, and use an app like Mint, that connects to ALL of your accounts – banks, lines of credit, credit cards, mortgage – and automatically posts the transactions to their respective categories
- Whatever way you do it, you want to capture monthly cash flow and you want to know if it balances.
- You could also simply track your outstanding debt (using one of the methods above). If your outstanding balances on your credit cards and lines of credit are increasing, you are spending more than you make. If they are decreasing, you are spending less, and paying off debt.
Once you have this info, you go deeper.
If you are spending more than you make, you need to know why.
- Are you barely covering your essential expenses?
- Are you spending frivolously what is left?
- What are your weak points? Your strengths?
If you are spending less than you make, what are you doing with the rest?
- Is it going to debt repayment
- Do you have an emergency fund?
- Are you saving for occasional non-monthly expenses?
You start with knowledge .. and it, in turn, transforms itself to understanding. You take action from that place.
Through new clarity existing ambitions, goals, or plans may be seen for the limited undesirables they are.
There are two parts to this:
- When it comes right down to it, often times, what you thought was important was not and your direction, your intentions, may change.
- When you understand your relationship with money more, and you come into alignment with your true beliefs around money, not just what was spoon fed to you, your desires shift, and take you to a deeper, more fulfilling place than just the “stuff or status” you can acquire.
Money management is a journey. Not a destination. If you try to “arrive” at some place, you will be frustrated because it is an ever-changing, ever flowing energy. (That may be why it is called currency) 😊
If you approach your money management system as something that is there to teach you about money, and your relationship with it, how you can co-exist with money in harmony versus making it something outside of you that you have to obtain, or master, or figure out, or overcome, your financial life will shift.
Within that, what you need is a good, solid plan for how your will spend YOUR money, and a good solid WHY for your motivating force to learn more about your relationship with money. Then you have the formula for success.
So, ask yourself, which of those is missing? The good solid plan? The good solid understanding? Both? And set some goes this year to make those work better for you.
Until my next post…
Wishing you all happy, healthy finances.
