Let’s recap the last set of 3 stones that were cast for our 2021 financial forecast.
If you remember all three of these stones aligned with their numerical sequence. What I mean by that is the seventh stone I chose was also the seventh stone in the list of stones and their meanings. The significance of this, in my opinion, is that this message is very aligned to the truth and has an extra emphasis for all.
- Nauthiz (Shame) – reversed *the seventh stone in the seventh position*
Here is the great teacher disguised as the bringer of pain and limitation. Only at the darkest hour do we see just how bright the light is within ourselves. Cleansing is needed to strengthen the character. Only after great darkness will we know and see the true light.
- Inguz (Faith) *the eight stone in the eight position*
Now is the time of great strength when completions can be finished and as a result new beginnings started. Difficulties can be resolved and clarified. The butterfly now emerges from the cocoon. Movement may cause you to free yourself from a rut in your life. There is danger, but like the King on a chess board, the movement takes you out of check and danger.
- Elhwaz (Denial) *the ninth stone in the ninth position*
There may be blockages, but even they help our progress. You may seem to be powerless at this point in time. Patience and waiting are called for. Growth is promoted through inconvenience and discomfort. Wait on the will of the Heavens.
And the Summary:
The Shame stone indicates that what you uncover will be uncomfortable for you. And that’s ok. The greatest shifts happen that way. The Faith and Denial stones, both coming in equally as strong, reminding you that this exercise, this awareness, this movement is necessary to get things going in the direction they need to go in. And that it is ok to feel powerless in the process. It is the surrender to control that propels you forward.
SHAME
Nauthiz (Shame) – reversed *the seventh stone in the seventh position*
Here is the great teacher disguised as the bringer of pain and limitation. Only at the darkest hour do we see just how bright the light is within ourselves. Cleansing is needed to strengthen the character. Only after great darkness will we know and see the true light.
Shame.
Now there’s a word that appears to go hand in hand with our financial lives, doesn’t it?
Last week I shared just how much I overdid my holiday spending. It would be easy, and justifiable for me to feel shame around the decisions I made. But what’s the point? Well, there is a point. The feeling of shame shows us what we don’t want and it creates an opening to what we do want. What we do next is the most important part of this equation.
“…the great teacher disguised as the bringer of pain and limitation.” … sometimes we simply don’t pay attention. If things are ‘good enough’ we aren’t motivated to make them better. But when you are faced with pain, or limitation, frustration kicks in, anger kicks in, and those emotions get us moving. They motivate us to find a better way, a new path forward, to look at what we do want.
”Only at the darkest hour do we see just how bright the light is within ourselves”
I want you to look at the shame you feel around your finances, your budgeting skills, or lack thereof, your spending habits, your inability to have or do what you feel you are entitled to as a moment of light. Look at your shame as an opportunity. Embrace your shame as the teacher of wisdom that it is, and let it move you forward towards your dreams.
“Only after great darkness will we know and see the true light.” … let the true light of your hearts desire, your worthiness, your ability to manifest anything you want in your life to shine through.
FAITH
Inguz (Faith) *the eight stone in the eight position*
Now is the time of great strength when completions can be finished and, as a result, new beginnings started. Difficulties can be resolved and clarified. The butterfly now emerges from the cocoon. Movement may cause you to free yourself from a rut in your life. There is danger, but like the King on a chess board, the movement takes you out of check and danger.
We just talked about Shame and how it can propel you to take action. So it is not a coincidence that the next message starts with this … “Now is the time of great strength when completions can be finished and, as a result, new beginnings started.”
This is a message to let go of what is no longer serving you. “…when completions can be finished”. As one of my favourite teachers can often be heard saying, “Let that shit go!” Start something new.
- Begin tracking your expenses
- Start a savings account for the expenses that cause you stress (like the Holidays)
- Meet with a Financial Advisor, an Accountant, a Lawyer, Licensed Insolvency Trustee (Me!), etc. Someone who can help point you in the right direction
- Shop around for better rates
- Put the kids on an allowance (instead of just dishing out money whenever something comes up)
- And so on…
“Difficulties can be resolved and clarified” but, you need to do the work. You need to take the steps necessary to move you in that direction.
And when you do… “The butterfly now emerges from the cocoon”. That’s you baby! You’re the butterfly! I know it’s scary. Think of that poor butterfly wrapped in the darkness with no idea of what comes next. And then! Light. Wings. Soaring above the earth. Wow! Ow magical and beautiful and freeing.
That’s what is in store for you! You just need to have a little faith and take that next necessary step. 😊
DENIAL
Elhwaz (Denial) *the ninth stone in the ninth position*
There may be blockages, but even they help our progress. You may seem to be powerless at this point in time. Patience and waiting are called for. Growth is promoted through inconvenience and discomfort. Wait on the will of the Heavens.
”There may be blockages, but even they help our progress”
This journey you are about to embark on will not be without it’s challenges. Some big. Some small. But challenges none-the-less.
- You may have some nay-sayers in your circle. Well screw them! This is your journey not theirs. Block ‘em out.
- Perhaps you talk to the bank and are refused a loan. It’s just a course correction, Take another step.
- Maybe a large unexpected expense comes up and knocks you down on your tookus (I had to look up the spelling). Get up, brush yourself off and take that next step.
“You may seem to be powerless at this point in time. Patience and waiting are called for.”
Just because it doesn’t happen quickly, or effortlessly, doesn’t mean it is not going to happen. Slow and steady wins the race. Take every obstacle as an opportunity to let your persistence shine. Take every road block as a message that there is another way.
“Growth is promoted through inconvenience and discomfort.”
This is a learning opportunity for you. Treat it as such. Once you learn how to overcome the challenge and see yourself moving away from it, you will gain momentum.
It’s kind of like school. You have to pass to move on. You can get 50% or 100%, it doesn’t matter which, you still move on. If you don’t get a passing grade, you repeat that lesson. Until you get it. Don’t stay stuck in the lesson. Don’t stay stuck in Denial. Face your fears and do it anyway.
IN CLOSING
This week’s message was about looking beneath the surface and what is, and what is not working. It was about not being afraid to face the dark parts of your finances and shine the light of possibility on them. And it was about creating from that space, about recognizing that you are meant to be successful, in all areas of your life, and if your finances don’t reflect that, there is something more for you to see, something more for you to uncover, and something more for you to do.
So, your homework is to face those parts of your finances that you are in denial about. Face them. See them. Honor them. Shift them.
And, if you feel up to it, please report back to me on what you discovered. You can post it on my Facebook page, comment below or email me, confidentially, at info@drdebt.ca
Next week we are going to discuss the final stone – Serenity (Ah! Don’t you just love the feel of that word?)
Until then…
Wishing you all happy, healthy finances.
